Appell Center for the Performing Arts inspires, educates, and entertains through professional performing arts experiences that bring together York County's diverse voices.
We've relied on our family of members and donors to nurture these historic theatres and support the world-class performances and educational programs we provide.
The community has been a critical part of our story for nearly 100 years!
The Appell Center for the Performing Arts inspires, educates, and entertains through professional performing arts experiences that bring together York County's diverse voices.
The Appell Center for the Performing Arts (ACPA), formerly the Strand Capitol Performing Arts Center, serves York County and south-central PA with a full-slate of performing arts programs and educational offerings. The facility houses two historic theaters - the 1,262 seat Strand Theatre (1925) and the 450 seat Capitol Theatre (1906).
ACPA hosts more hundreds of events annually, including Broadway, comedy, theater, dance, concerts, and films. The organization offers performing arts education experiences that include a free literacy and theater program (Stage the Page) to K-2nd grade students, and newer STEM theatre education program for students in grades 3-5 across the county. Over 10,000 students are impacted through this program annually.
The Appell Center seeks community support to offer free and reduced cost programs for York County residents. Help support our scholarship program, free film and education programs for students, and our community outreach events.
