Since 2011, the corps has hosted "Profiles In Music" now at the Waldner Performing Arts Center to sold-out audiences. Participants include musical organizations from throughout the northeastern United States that are dedicated to the marching arts.

Your support helps us continue our mission of participating in live marching events throughout the Mid-Atlantic region and provide the opportunity for musical organizations to work together to bring the marching arts to local communities.

Mission

Provide life long, accessible music education and performance opportunities through the traditions of classic

American drum and bugle corps. We bring together performers of all ages to learn, grow, and share the joy of

the marching arts, while enriching the cultural life of our community. We strive to preserve musical tradition,

expand access, and serve as a regional leader in music education, civic engagement, and cultural heritage

through performance, mentorship, and community partnerships.

Background Statement

Founded in 1920 by the Harold H. Bair American Legion Post 14, the Hanover Lancers Drum & Bugle Corps

has served York County for more than a century as a community-centered performing arts organization.

Originally created to provide veterans and local youth with musical and civic engagement opportunities, the

corps evolved into a regional cultural fixture, performing in parades, competitions, and concerts across the Mid-Atlantic region until a brief hiatus during the 1980s. Revitalized in 1990 as a non-competitive ensemble,

the Lancers now bring together nearly 100 members of all ages, fostering mentorship, intergenerational

connection, and lifelong participation in the arts. The corps appears annually in many local events, before

thousands of spectators. Support for the Lancers strengthens accessible arts programming, preserves a

historic musical tradition, and ensures that future generations can experience the camaraderie and

community pride that define the drum corps activity.

Needs

Donations to the Lancers help the organization provide a no cost educational and music program accessible to individuals of varying social economic backgrounds.
