Bartz Brigade, the Trent Bartz Foundation, is a community-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in York, Pennsylvania. In the midst of the tragedy of losing Trent to suicide, hope emerged—and Bartz Brigade was born.
Created to honor Trent’s life and legacy, Bartz Brigade is dedicated to helping others avoid similar tragedies. Through education, prevention, and training, we work to raise awareness about mental health and suicide while fostering a culture of support and understanding.
We also assist individuals and families with financial needs and provide tools that promote strong, positive mental health. At the core of our mission is the belief in a “strong body, strong mind” approach to overall well-being.
Our programs are designed to support school-aged children, young adults, and veterans—groups we believe are especially important to reach. In keeping with our commitment to the community, 85% of the funds raised through events and donations are reinvested directly back into York County Community.

Trent Bartz was a remarkable American—full of life, deeply charismatic, and passionate about the people, places, and values he held close. He lived with a strong sense of integrity and honor, embodying those qualities in everything he did. Yet behind that strength, Trent quietly battled struggles that, in time, became overwhelming.
On August 19, 2015, at just 20 years old, Trent lost that battle.
Trent was an active and dedicated member of his community, always giving his all and lifting up those around him. Among his many accomplishments, he was posthumously promoted to Corporal in the 203rd Military Intelligence Battalion of the United States Army—a testament to his service, leadership, and unwavering love for his country. He carried a deep pride in what it meant to be an American and lived that belief every day.
Trent will always be remembered for the light he brought into the lives of others and the countless ways he gave of himself. While his story ended far too soon, his legacy continues—carried forward by those who love him and by the lives still being touched in his name.
