Friends of Codorus State Park

A nonprofit organization

$10,280 raised by 66 donors

The Friends of Codorus State Park, which was started in 2006, is a 200 member all-volunteer, non-profit that supports the park with donated monies and with projects and events performed by our members.

The activities we have supported over the years include:

  • Renovating the 270-year-old building in the park, which is now a lodge that is open for reservations,
  • Constructing a new pavilion at the Main Launch area, a new dock at the sailboat area, a playground, and a new deck and roof at the park’s classroom building,
  • Renovating a former Girl Scout Camp for use as an environmental education classroom,
  • Purchasing of safety improvements at the park, pool, and maintenance areas and benches in the park, and
  • Paving the Veteran’s Memorial and Bandshell areas to improve access for handicapped visitors.

Annually, we hold:

  • Multiple events such as Experience Codorus Outdoors, Codorus Trick or Treat, and Paddle for the Park which provide outdoor recreation for families to enjoy,
  • Free Easter Egg Scramble and Breakfast with Santa events, which have engaged more than 1000 children, and
  • Biannual park cleanup days and ongoing invasive plant removal and hazardous tree removal projects.

Please keep us in mind for your donation dollars as we strive in our mission to improve the park for its visitors.

In closing, we invite you to visit the park to enjoy all that it has to offer to our community: a beautiful lake, boating, picnicking, camping, fishing, hiking trails, horseback riding trails, bird watching, disc golf courses, and more!

Mission

The Friends of Codorus Park State Park (FOCSP) is a non-profit organization that has been in existence since 2006 and is operated 100% by volunteers. We strive to give back to the south-central PA community through various annual events such as the Codorus Blast, Halloween in the Park, and our Winterfest. Monies raised through these events enables us to support the park through free events to the community like our Easter Egg Hunt, Breakfast with Santa, and ice cream socials. Funds raised by the FOCSP all go back into the park and have been used for projects such as mulching of the playground, paving of paths to help the accessibility, building a pavilion, Kayak Storage shed w kayaks and supplying the park with manpower to help with clean-up days.

2020 was vastly different for everyone, and our major fundraiser was providing firewood for sale to the campers, and the campground was a busy place in 2020. We are also helping to support the revitalization of the Black Rock Lodge which is within the park for future use and rental.

Keep us in mind for your donation dollars and come out to Codorus State Park sometime to see the beautiful lake, trails, and refurbished swimming pool which will be opening in 2021. CSP has a lot to offer recreationally (kayaking, birding, and disc golf), and through preservation and educational programs.
