North Hopewell-Winterstown Elementary PTO is asking for your support as we undertake an exciting and meaningful project for our school community— adding a New Playground for our K–6th students.
NHW serves a vibrant and growing student population within the Red Lion Area School District. Our current playground facilities are in dire need of upgrades and expansion to better support the physical, social, and emotional development of our students. Our playground is not only a place for students to play during recess but also for our rural community members to use and enjoy.
The purpose of the North Hopewell-Winterstown Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization (NHW PTO) is to promote a closer relationship between the home and school so that teachers and parents may work cooperatively to benefit students and overall community by raising money to support field trips, assemblies, school supplies, and other educational needs, striving to ensure all funded activities are inclusive and accessible to the entire student body.
The North Hopewell-Winterstown Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization (NHW PTO) is a dedicated, volunteer-led nonprofit committed to enhancing the educational experience of all students. Serving a close-knit, rural community, the PTO works collaboratively with families, teachers, and school leadership to support academic enrichment, student well-being, and school pride.
NHW PTO organizes a variety of programs and events throughout the year, including family engagement activities, fundraising initiatives, and student-centered programs that foster creativity, leadership, and community connection. Through these efforts, the PTO helps fund classroom resources, educational opportunities, and school improvements that are not fully covered by the school budget.
A major current focus of the NHW PTO is raising funds for a much-needed playground update. The existing equipment no longer fully meets the needs of our growing and diverse student population. The proposed playground project aims to create a safe and engaging space where all children can play, learn, and thrive together.
Driven by a strong spirit of volunteerism and community support, the NHW PTO is committed to making a lasting impact on students’ daily experiences and helping to build a positive, supportive school environment for years to come.
Our Playground Project includes the purchase and installation of a play structure with a rock-climbing wall, 4 additional swings to accommodate the size of our student body, and an inclusive merry-go-round. This project will also include the excavation of two pieces of dated metal equipment allowing room for the new structures and maintaining open field space for free play. NHW PTO worked closely with involved parents and teachers to lay out a plan to maximum space and resources while keeping the best interest of our students in mind.
