York County Honors Choirs

A nonprofit organization

$43,910 raised by 139 donors

For more than two decades, the York County Honors Choirs have inspired, challenged, and empowered young singers from across the County. Through music, we nurture confidence, discipline, leadership, and lifelong friendships. Our choirs aren’t just about performance—they're about building a stronger, more compassionate, and more connected community.

On May 1st and 2nd, York County will come together for Give Local York, a 24-hour online giving celebration of the nonprofits that make our community shine. This year, we invite you to raise your voice—and your support—for the York County Honors Choirs.

We can’t do it without you. Your gift helps us provide:

  • Scholarships so no child is turned away
  • Exceptional guest clinicians and conductors
  • Sheet music, uniforms, and performance opportunities
  • A safe, inclusive space for every student to find their voice

Your contribution, no matter the size, is an investment in the future of music and the development of young artists. Together, we can continue to create magical moments and spread joy for and wide. Join us in our mission to sing together as one voice. This is Why We Sing.

Mission

York County Honors Choirs is comprised of two auditioned ensembles: York County Senior Honors Choir (grades 10-12), founded in 1998 to participate in York County’s 250th Anniversary Celebration and York County Junior Honors Choir (grades 7-9), developed in 2002 by Donna Knott to provide training and opportunities for younger singers. The choirs serve as choral ambassadors of York County, presenting over 20 concerts annually. Outside performances have included appearances at Carnegie Hall, the Naval Academy, Heinz Chapel, the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, the National Cathedral, Canterbury and York Minster in England, and the United Nations. The choirs have collaborated with artists as diverse as the Deer Creek Chorale and the Canadian Brass and have received recognition and awards for their excellence in leadership as well as musicianship. More than just a choir, this unique collaboration with school districts, private music instructors, homeschoolers, and community groups gives students the opportunity to reach out and share their talents with others who have the same love of music and level of dedication in a non-competitive environment. York County Honors Choirs, Inc. is a 501c3 nonprofit organization. York County businesses, sponsors, and private patrons support the group financially.
