Communities In Schools of Pennsylvania is focused on helping children build the best life they can by helping them overcome obstacles. Every child is unique and requires an individualized approach in order to succeed. Whether a child needs extra academic help, a mentor, a health check-up, additional food supplies or even employment training, Communities In Schools of Pennsylvania is there to make sure each child gets exactly what they need.

CISPA serves 32 individual schools in 14 school districts, including 9 schools in York County. CISPA currently provides programming in the School District of the City of York at Davis Pre K-8, Goode Pre K-8, Hannah Penn Pre K-8, Devers Pre K-8, Ferguson Pre K-8, Jackson Pre K-8, McKinley Pre K-8, and William Penn Senior High School. CISPA also provides programming in the Spring Grove School District at Paradise Elementary School. Our school based team members are in their schools on a full-time, year-round basis. These highly qualified, passionate staff members integrate into their school buildings and become part of the fabric of each of their school communities.

In these schools, supports include 3 tiers of services to students: Tier 1 (whole-school), Tier 2 (small group), and Tier 3 (intensive case management). Our talented school based team members find partnerships and resources in the community and brings them to students and families, work to support and empower students to remove non-academic barriers to their success, and bring programs and resources to the whole school and work 1:1 with small groups.

In York, during the 2023-2024 school year:

• 101,086 (duplicated) students across the district participated in Tier 1 (whole-school) programs

• 44,205 (duplicated) parents were served through Tier 1 (whole-school) supports

• 13,931 basic needs items were distributed, including clothing, food, hygiene, and school supplies.
