Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen

In 1983, Our Daily Bread opened its doors for those in need to enjoy a nutritious, hot meal. 40 years later, we're still serving two meals every weekday - through blizzards, hurricanes and yes - pandemics, too. We've served over 2.7 million meals!

Our Daily Bread serves an average of 200 meals a day, supported by more than 200 volunteers who assist our mission by serving meals, collecting food, & helping with repairs & maintenance.

This year, we hope to raise $7,000 through Give Local York.

In the past few years, the funds raised through Give Local York helped us setup a website, invest in technology that is helping us with our administrative tasks, replace worn out kitchen tools, and install a new floor in our food prep area that will last for years and years. This year, we need to replace the siding on the building, which is estimated to cost $12,000. 

Donations for ODB will support the daily operations of Our Daily Bread, like:

• purchasing food items (sugar (20-25 lbs per week), bread, fresh fruit, salad mix/veggies, eggs, milk & juice, cleaning & maintenance supplies
• paying utility bills

The challenge of running a soup kitchen is that even as costs are rising for what we provide, we also then serve more clients because they, too, are facing rising costs for food and housing and need our support.
