Silver Lake is a 20-acre lake in Lewisberry, PA created in 1786!
On September 1, 2021 tropical storm Ida dumped 10 inches of rain in one day, causing damage to the lake. The Preserve Silver Lake Fund was created to raise money to make repairs per PA DEP regulations for this historical natural sanctuary.
There are many raptors and waterfowl that visit the lake, including protected species (Bald Eagles, and Oldsquaw Ducks) and endangered species (Great Egrets, Trumpeter Swans, and Barn Owls). Silver Lake is on the migratory path of the Eastern Flyway.
Many animals including Whitetail Deer, Wild Turkeys, Possums, Racoons, American Minks, Beaver, and River Otters use the lake for varying reasons.
There are many varieties of fish in the lake: Crappies, Bluegills, Gizzard Shad, Carp, Catfish, Smallmouth Bass and Largemouth Bass.
Silver Lake is one of nature's special places. It is our sincere hope that we can preserve this lake for future generations.
100% of all donations to Preserve Silver Lake Fund go directly to the rehabilitation and preservation of Silver Lake.
