Shining Stars Therapeutic Riding Program Inc.

For the past 20 years, the Shining Stars Therapeutic Riding Program has provided equine therapy to youth and adults with special needs, seniors, veterans, and at-risk youth in order to improve the physical, mental, emotional, and social areas of their lives.

• We offer therapeutic riding to help children and adults get unique rehabilitative therapy as well as therapeutic cart driving that is open to students of all ages who cannot mount a horse for various reasons.
• Our Silver Stars program offers a variety of ways to incorporate horses into a physical routine that helps to strengthen muscles. Silver Stars provides equine for our older population who suffer from depression, feelings of agitation, anxiety, and other psychological issues.
• Equine Connection students have the opportunity to work with the horses on the ground to develop effective communication and leadership strategies that promote confidence and empowerment as students learn how to partner with and train their horses.
• Our summer and winter horse camps give young people the chance to learn about the love and hope God gives through horses. Many of our kids go through stressful or tragic circumstances.
• Finally, our Stars and Stripes program is designed for military veterans of all eras. All veterans are welcome to participate with us in "natural horsemanship" and many other therapeutic endeavors, including grooming and learning horse behavior. 

No student has ever been turned away because of financial need. Our staff of six manages nearly 200 volunteers who donated 8600 hours to Shining Stars in 2024. We were blessed to serve 230 students throughout the year through nearly 1800 different classes. 

In late 2022, we were blessed to be able to purchase, through generous donations, a 60-acre horse farm in Adams County. Our Unbridled Future Capital Campaign is in full swing in 2025 as we work to raise an additional $4 million to construct a new equine campus to address the growing needs in York and Adams counties.
