$5,000 Goal

Support Susquehanna Service Dogs in Give Local York! Our goal is to raise $5,000 to raise, train, and place life-changing assistance dogs. Each dog is specially trained to support their partners to live more independently and pursue their goals and dreams.

Why Give?

“I’ve gained a lot of independence with SSD Allegiant by my side,” said Mellisa Brownawell. “There’s so much on a daily basis that Allegiant can do for me, just as simple as picking things up off the floor, providing deep pressure therapy, or giving me space when I’m out in public. My family went on vacation, and I was able to be present and do things with them, so it was a huge success. My daughter doesn’t have to be glued to my side anymore, so she’s got her independence back, too.”

Susquehanna Service Dogs currently has four facility dogs in York County Schools, two courthouse dogs, and six working dogs with partners in York County. All together, these dogs touch the lives of 100,000 people each year. That's a huge impact!

A program of Keystone Human Services, Susquehanna Service Dogs breeds, raises, trains, and places service dogs and hearing dogs, as well as facility dogs, to assist children and adults with disability and veterans to lead the lives they want to live. We have over 300 dogs active within our program.

Your support makes a difference! Join us for Give Local York and help create more life-changing partnerships!

Mission

Our assistance dogs give people the confidence to live more independently and do things they didn't think were possible. These dogs change lives.

Susquehanna Service Dogs raises, trains, and places service dogs and hearing dogs, as well as facility dogs to assist children and adults with disability to become more independent. Founded in 1993, we have placed over 300 service dogs with people throughout Pennsylvania and the surrounding states.

We work hard to find the perfect match between a person and a service dog. Whether our service dogs are retrieving dropped items or opening a door, they're assisting their partner to live full, rich, meaningful lives.

“With SSD Zola by my side, I now have the confidence to go out on my own and do so many things I couldn't before.” —Katie Brigger

We are a program of Keystone Human Services and accredited by Assistance Dogs International.
