In 2024, through our own programs and through our Food Security Network, we distributed 3.5 million healthy meals to seniors, families, and individuals in need all over York County. We did this with the support of 100 volunteers every week who donated over 9,000 hours of their time in 2024. We couldn't have done it without those volunteers, our donors, and the hard work of our partners across York County.
With nearly 55,000 people facing food insecurity in York County, this is no small accomplishment. But, there is still a lot more work to do in order to create a Hunger Free York.
We continue to conduct our drive-thru distributions; Senior Food Box Program including delivery via DoorDash to 2,000 seniors; our Give-A-Meal holiday box program; Mobile Food Pantry; supporting our 80 partner agencies; and our newest most innovative program: the Online Pantry Program.
The York County Food Bank has been active in hunger relief since 1982. Today, with the help of thousands of volunteers and generous donors like you, we serve 2,000 families a week and distribute over 6 million pounds of food each year. We distribute this food directly to clients through our weekly distributions, CSFP Senior Food Boxes, Mobile Pantry distributions, and in partnership with over 100 other non-profit organizations in York County. Our network of community partners includes shelters, pantries, soup kitchens, senior centers, and other nonprofits working locally to relieve hunger. In addition to offering a reliable inventory of free food, the Food Bank helps our partners with issues of food safety, client dignity and other best practices.
