Misericordia: A Legacy of Caring

At Misericordia Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, we believe that every resident is a member of our family. We reflect on our mission to continue the healing ministry of Jesus with a heart of mercy. We are grateful for the Daughters of Our Lady of Mercy, who have sponsored us for over 80 years, and for the opportunity to provide compassionate care to our residents.

Our small size, high staff-to-resident ratio, and nurturing environment create a warm and welcoming home for our residents. We are proud to hold the distinction of being a 5-star rated nursing facility in York, as determined by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid.

Our dedicated staff embodies the spirit of our foundress, St. Mary Joseph Rossello, by caring for the person as a whole - mind, soul, and body. We offer a wide range of services, including physical, occupational, and speech therapy, end-of-life care, respite care, and in-house pastoral care. Our in-house chapel offers weekly Mass and is open to residents of all faiths.

We are deeply touched by the positive experiences shared by our residents and their families. We recently received a note from a family member who wrote, “I can’t thank you enough for the care you provide for my mother. It’s so reassuring to know that she is in such good hands. Your kindness and dedication mean so much to our family.” These words inspire us to continue providing the highest quality of care.

Celebrating 60 years at our current location

This year Misericordia celebrates sixty years of service at its current location at 998 S. Russell Street in York! A lot of change has occurred in 60 years, but what remains the same is Misericordia’s commitment to providing kind, patient and compassionate care with a heart of mercy. As we move forward, we are committed to upholding the values of mercy and compassion that are at the core of our mission. We welcome residents who have physical and cognitive limitations that require rehabilitation or 24-hour nursing care to assist with activities of daily living. Our door is always open, and we invite you to come and see the loving care and dedication that we offer to all of our residents.

We are reminded of the words from James 2:14-17, “What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,’ but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”

As a giver, you have the opportunity to make a tangible impact on the lives of our residents. Your support allows us to continue providing compassionate care and fulfilling our mission of mercy. We thank you for your generosity and for joining us in our journey of healing and compassion at Misericordia Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
