Safe, stable housing is the foundation everything else depends on. It affects whether a child can focus in school. Whether a parent can keep a steady job. Whether a family can plan for the future instead of just getting by.

Right now in York County, too many hardworking families are being stretched thin by rising costs. When housing isn’t affordable, families are forced to make impossible choices just to get by.

That’s why York Habitat exists. We don’t just build homes, we build opportunity. Families partner with us to purchase their homes with an affordable mortgage. They put in sweat equity, working alongside volunteers to create a better future. It’s a hand up, not a handout.

Our work goes beyond construction too. We repair homes, strengthen neighborhoods, and advocate for affordable housing right here in our community.

My connection to Habitat for Humanity began during my freshman year of college on a Collegiate Challenge trip to Syracuse. That experience left a lasting impression and led me to get involved with York Habitat in 2017. Since then, I’ve served as a committee member and now as Vice President of the Board of Directors.

This year, we’re working to raise $25,000 in just 24 hours during Give Local York. I’ve set a personal goal of $500 and would truly appreciate your support.

And this is a moment where support truly matters. Every dollar, every volunteer helps move a family closer to a safe, stable place to call home…and a stronger future.
