Friends & Neighbors (F&N) works tirelessly to find and support the growing number of unhoused individuals in York County. Your donations will go to two programs run through F&N, the Street Outreach Team and the Beacon Resource Center.
The Street Outreach Team travels by car, bike, and foot throughout York City and County to distribute gear and make a personal connection with people experiencing homelessness. The team distributes survival gear to individuals and helps them get connected to the various other resources in their areas.
The Beacon Resource Center is not just a place for people to get out of the weather, but provides refreshments, access to bathrooms, wifi, weekly free haircuts, and a safe space to rest or connect with others for a few hours every weekday. The Beacon offers space to other resources in the city to meet with the unsheltered community outside of a sterile office.
What often doesn't get noticed or posted on social media is the amount of time our staff takes with each person to learn about their situation, history, passions, and needs. Our goal is not just survival, but giving the unique support each person needs to keep working on themselves.
